school of machines receives ars electronica honorary mention

At the end of last year, we were are honoured to received the Digital Communities Honorary Mention at the Prix Ars Electronica 2020, alongside many outstanding initiatives demonstrating how technology can help build more open, democratic, and ethical systems.

We are thrilled to be recognised for our commitment “to mak[ing] technology more diverse—particularly by embracing an artistic approach in the exploration of technologies” and hope that this brings exciting opportunities for the future of the School.

Ars Electronica is a festival for art, technology and society based in Linz, Austria that has been bringing together artists, scientists, developers, designers, entrepreneurs and activists from all over the world since 1979 to exchange ideas about the digital revolution and its possible consequences. Over the decades it has become one of Europe’s most prestigious new media art institutions, brimming with creative visions for a more egalitarian digital landscape. We look forward to seeing what the festival will bring this year!
