summer 2024

School of Machines offers an in-person, immersive 4-week program in Berlin.

Our four week full-time programs are project-focused courses, aimed at bringing thoughtful humans together to connect with each other and with themselves. We explore the latest technologies while simultaneously questioning their usage, the world around us, and ourselves. Program sizes are small and participants actively engage their new-found skills and collaborators each step of the way, creating individual and group work towards a public exhibition at the end of each program.

This summer we are offering Interactive Berlin from 1. - 26. July, 2024. For more details and to apply, see below.

Art has the power to change the world but how can we spread our messages far and wide and have greater reach and impact? This program is about creating artworks not for the gallery but for residing in public space. What considerations must we take into account when working towards outdoor public presentation and interactivity? This program aims to output collaborative public artworks to be displayed in Volkspark am Weinberg in Berlin Mitte this summer.

As part of this our third session of the Interactive Berlin program, we will focus on materials and fabrication, sculpture, creative AI, physical computing, interactivity, and collaborations with humans and machines.

Additionally, participants are invited to stay for a one-month residency (August) at School of Machines in Berlin to further connections, continue their work after the program has ended, and to assist in exhibition production for our 10 year anniversary showcase at the esteemed Kunstquartier Bethanien in Berlin Kreuzberg.

Caring creative humans, family vibes included.
