Join us for an online showcase of artworks and experiments this Thurs., 10. November, 7-9pm CET

Art at the End of the World exhibits the outcomes of two School of Machine classes, one on generative art, Drawing with Code, which taught the fundamentals of creative coding with p5.js by the brilliant dutch artist Saskia Freeke. The other course was Clean NFTs and taught by a long time friend of the school, and prolific online educator, Raphaël de Courville, who took a very practical if not somewhat critical stance on creating and selling proof-of-stake based artworks.

The artworks in the show represent both of these programs and are wrapped in fiction as relics from a far off world, somewhere in a society beyond capitalism. Through this sci-fi reimaging of a gallery space, with no central owner and only the distributed and interconnected imagination of the visitors, we question the notion of ownership and privatisation that NFT’s rely on and ask how things might be different.

During the private view, we invite visitors into an interactive performance in commoning and joyful communing through live soundscaping and audio daydreaming. How can the act of jamming be a way to create new knowledge and metaphors for how non-hierarchical and decentralised power structures could operate in a digital space? At the same time the performance exists as an opening ritual for the space, grasping at magical languages in order to return power to the margins.

Come join School of Machines, Making & Make-Believe for an experimental online showcase this Thursday, 10. November from 7-9pm! We will be sharing works and in general, attempting to have a random and enjoyable time together with you online!

This is an experimental event in which we hope you will not only check out the artwork but also engage with us in conversation, sound-making, or whatever seems appropriate!

Space is limited so you will need to register on Eventbrite in order to attend. Thanks in advance and hope to see you there! Special thanks to our Exhibition Designer Michelle O'Higgins.
