How can we change ours and others relationship to food through playful experimentation and storytelling? How can we craft new experiences around food, dining, and the experience of eating? Join us as we contemplate and craft new experiences around the stuff we put in our mouths.

This program is about crafting experiences using food as material. Over the course of five days we will be inspired by the works of a variety of brilliant food designers who will be joining us to share their practice. while also taking a hands-on approach to crafting unique experiences both individually and in groups. We will look at flavour and how the taste of food triggers memories and emotions, we'll consider aroma and chemical flavour compounds, ways of preparing food, and baking as a means of narrative storytelling.

The goal of this course is to be all-encompassing; we would love for participants to leave the course prepared to design and craft their own food experiences for friends, their communities, and the general public. Important is close attention to texture and the food itself, the ritual and timing of the experience, presentation, and the stories that can be drawn from these. This course coincides with our transmedia storytelling program. During the program, both groups will come together to experience what food brings to the table as far as virtual and mixed reality experiences.

This one-week intensive will equip you with the technical expertise and confidence to continue  working on your own projects long after the course has ended.
